Watch: A Step-by-Step Guide on Creating End Credits in Photoshop
Adding rolling end credits to your film isn’t as easy as it seems, but here’s a tutorial that will walk you through the process.
One of the best (though least watched) parts of a movie are the end credits. It’s the moment when everyone who worked so hard to bring your project across the finish line swells with pride as they watch their name scrolling slowly up the screen. The thing about end credits, though, is that they can be a serious pain to create if you’ve never done it before. (Even if you have, it’s a pretty tedious endeavor.) How do you format it? How do you make the text move? Where do you even start?
Luckily, in the helpful Photoshop tutorial, Nathaniel Dodson of tutvid walks you through the entire process of creating end credits, from setting up and formatting your layout to exporting it with a transparent background for future use.
I’ve tried several different approaches to making rolling end credits, including my former NLE’s native end credit tools, but each one seemed either too complicated, too tedious, or too amateur-looking.

The $50 PanoClip Turns Your iPhone into a 360 Camera
Give your phone the power of 360-degree photo capture with the PanoClip.
With 360 capture growing ever popular, people are making moves to get their hands on cameras that can accommodate the trend. The only problem with that is these cameras can be a little too expensive for those who are still unsure about whether or not 360 capture is even something they’re really into—and yeah, the Rylo and GoPro Fusion are cool, but $500 to $700 is a lot of money to gamble on a curiosity. Though it doesn’t currently have video capabilities, this new lens attachment dubbed PanoClip not only turns your iPhone into a 360 camera but it’s also super affordable.

Dan Harris on “Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics: A How-To Guide” at SXSW 2018 [Video]
In Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics: A How-To Guide at SXSW 2018, ABC News anchor Dan Harris gives a thoughtful presentation on the various benefits of a personal meditation practice. Utilizing video clips from his career and travels promoting meditation, Harris shares conversations with many ‘fidgety skeptics’ about their reservations with meditation and addresses their concerns to the SXSW audience.
“Gratitude, patience, happiness, compassion…these are not factory settings that you can’t tinker with, these are skills that you can work on.”
During the Featured Session, Harris focuses on the misconceptions surrounding meditation that discourage people from trying to start a personal practice. These include time commitment, effect on personality, the amount of experience it requires to reap benefits, and more. Harris also addresses the many misconceptions about supposed benefits of meditation that make the practice seem unrealistic – namely that it can fix all of your mental troubles and that you will be able to clear your mind of all thought. By grounding the practice in a more realistic conversation, Harris is able to appeal to skeptical people that may have been alienated by conversations about mediation in the past.
“The goal of meditation is not to clear your mind, that’s impossible unless you are enlightened or you have died. The goal of meditation is to focus your mind for a few nanoseconds at a time…and when you get distracted, which you will over and over and over again, you just start again.”
Watch the video above for the full 2018 SXSW Featured Session, Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics: A How-To Guide, where ABC News anchor Dan Harris discusses the benefits of meditation and how even the busiest, and most skeptical, person can find the time and space in their life for these practices. A New ‘Halloween,’ a Revised ‘Suspiria’, & More Trailers You May Have Missed
Staying on top of the trailer circuit is a full-time job in and of itself. We’re here to help.
Trailer Watch returns this week and highlights some of the best (and most exciting titles) you may have missed! It was an unexpectedly busy week for trailer premieres, and while not all films are created equal, we’ve selected six that are very much worth your time, including a few remakes, a few sequels, and one featuring a bi-state hotel.
Bad Times at the El Royale (dir. Drew Goddard)
Bringing together a group of questionable strangers (who are not as they seem) has been the source of great drama since the days of Agatha Christie, and Bad Times at the El Royale definitely has its fair share of shady characters and evil intentions. If the neon-soaked trailer gives off the impression that this simple mystery premise has twists and turns that destined to redirect the plot every five minutes, that’s probably accurate.

Colorful 3D Illustration: Love Letters to Another Girl
Colorful 3D Illustration: Love Letters to Another Girl
Let’s take a look at this cool 3D illustration series entitled: Love Letters to Another Girl, designed by Liron Ashkenazi Eldar and Gal Eldar. Both located in New York, it’s such a cool series with vibrant colour palette accomplished with Adobe Photoshop and Maxon Cinema 4D. Also I just gotta love the reason why this series was commissioned for, it must have been such a special woman.
This illustration series was commissioned by a very sweet individual who wanted to create a visual love letter to a special woman. I’ve worked with him through his written letter to produce these images that accompanied a single addition printed zine.

Linda Perry & Kerry Brown Music Keynote at SXSW 2018 [Video]
“We don’t want to own artists, we want to partner with them.” – Kerry Brown
Songwriter Hall of Fame inductee Linda Perry, chief songwriter of 4 Non Blondes, and multi-platinum producer Kerry Brown discuss the ethos behind the formation of their combination record label, publishing house, and management company We Are Hear during their Music Keynote at the 2018 SXSW Conference. Their conversation is preceded by a performance from Lion, one of their up-and-coming artists who also performed their label showcase – a fitting introduction for the duo, who leverage their resources to advocate for the artists they have partnered with.
The Keynote Conversation centers around their approach to developing artists by setting up an environment where the artists are able to explore their creative voice. They point out that major labels have to be focused on the bottom line to be successful which can create a factory-like working environment, and suggest that indie labels with smaller rosters are afforded the opportunity to give more attention to each of their artists. They shift the focus of the conversation to speak on the evolving landscape of brand partnerships midway through and invite Michelle Taite, Director of Global Brand & Marketing at Quickbooks, to elaborate on their collaboration with 13-year-old musician Willa Amai.
“Rock and roll right now is on a grid. It doesn’t belong on a grid. It belongs on a pulse.” – Linda Perry

WWDC 2018: Our Highlights on Apple’s Developer Conference
WWDC 2018: Our Highlights on Apple’s Developer Conference
Here I am, just finished watching Apple’s keynote at WWDC 2018 Conference. It was fun to see what Apple has been working for the past year, some really cool updates coming to the iPhone and iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV. We have decided to share our highlights on Apple’s Developer Conference, so you simply won’t have to watch the keynote again hah! In all seriousness, I love the part where Apple spoke about privacy, about them working tirelessly to create a seamless experience. This is music to my ears and it will be interesting to give it a whirl. Now let’s break it down!
Announcing upgraded operating systems for iPhone and iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV. We’ve packed them with new features and experiences, so with a simple update this fall all your devices will feel more powerful, personal, and fun than ever.

iOS New Features
This is where I have been putting more of my attention and at the same time noticing so many cool updates. To be honest, I have a feeling that Apple has been learning a lot from its competitor (Android) even though they mentioned that iOS has the fastest software OS adoption than Android. From introducing a new file for AR called the USDZ, I particularly loved the app called: Measure where you would use to phone to measure things in real-time through AR.
Apple introduced another new app called: Shortcuts where you will be able to direct a series of actions through this app, all triggered by setting your own keywords with Siri. It’s pretty impressive, imagine with just a few words, Siri can set up your home thermostat, your home commute and even play your favorite playlist. It’s super intuitive, might be interested to give it a try myself.
Just like Google, Apple has acknowledged the fact that we spend a lot of time on our phones and it’s becoming quite distracting throughout our daily life. They have improved the Do Not Disturb Mode for your bedtime and also you can set up your DND Mode by setting it up with a timer or whenever you are leaving your actual location. For the same occasion, Apple is finally releasing the Group Notifications, with a swipe you can now triage a whole bunch of notifications away.
Introducing Memojis
The cool stuff hah! We have to see this type of Emojis before with Samsung but no one does it like Apple. With iOS12, you can now customize your own Emojis, now called: Memojis. It’s fun but again how long you wanna spend time on your phone
Group FaceTime
That’s a cool feature coming to iOS12 where you will be able to use Group FaceTime up to 32 people simultaneously. That would be video conference a lot funnier, not sure about productive though! One thing though, the UI for this new feature has been giving a lot of think about their approach. It’s a nice touch to see the person’s window getting larger as they talk but I think we would have thought about something a little bit more visual.
WatchOS New Features
Not a lot of people were too crazy about the latest updates on WatchOS, I personally liked the new app entitled: Walkie Talkie where you simply communicate to another Apple Watch user by simply pressing the Talk button. Great onboarding for adding a new contact/friend.
MacOS New Features
Dark Mode!
Some little thing are coming to MacOS but the most noticeable change would be the introduction of Dark Mode. You gotta admit that it makes everything look even more gorgeous. This might be my most exciting feature to come on the next MacOS.
Most of the updates were mostly software NOT hardware. It’s mostly to be expected when you are attending the WWDC which are for developers. I loved those little updates, nothing too crazy but enough for us designers to start to think about different things related to our workflow. Hope you have enjoyed this coverage.
