HRSA’s Nurse Corps Scholarship Program Now Open

Grants Resource Center – by Fatoyinbo, Willette B.

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Nurse Corps Scholarship Program offers students “turn key” resources, such as tuition, monthly stipends, books, uniforms, supplies, etc. to help complete their nursing education. In exchange, awardees offer pre-determined years of service fulfilled in a critical shortage facility upon graduation. The application deadline is May 21, 2019.

This national health care service program responds to the growing needs of Americans who have less access to affordable, quality health care in under-served areas. Since 2002, Nurse Corps clinicians have served nearly 1.9 million patients in urban, rural and tribal communities across the United States. Outside of institutional support, the program directly engages health care students accepted or enrolled in a diploma, associate, baccalaureate, or graduate degree nursing program. Applicants are strongly encouraged to read eligibility requirements and post-graduate service commitment agreements carefully as the number of service years may vary depending on the number of years in the program.

HRSA will host free technical assistance webinars designed for students to learn more about program goals and expectations on the following dates: Thursday, May 2, 2019 and Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET. To join the webinar, dial: 1-888-455-2923 and enter the passcode: 2458846. Students are encouraged to join the webinar; review the application and program guide; and gather supporting documents early. Additional applicant support is also available through a technical support email form or by phone at 1-800-221-9393.
