Valdosta State University’s campus is historic, beautiful, and undoubtedly one of the most ‘grammable campuses around. The Spanish mission-style architecture juxtaposed with its new-age modern buildings make campus strolls something you always look forward to. The architecture of the buildings alone is impressive, but what escalates #VState’s campus is the immaculate landscaping. Whether you’re a current student, a community member or someone stopping to sightsee, all can agree that it would be challenging to walk around campus without snapping at least one pic. Here are our picks for the most Instagram-worthy locations at #VState.
FRONT LAWN
The Front Lawn. Our A1, since Day 1, and our most photographed location on campus. This sprawling lawn has countless spots that are perfect for the ‘gram. From its perfectly landscaped flowerbeds to the architectural perfection that surrounds the space – photos of the Front Lawn always flood social media.
The Front Lawn has been dubbed one of the most beautiful places in South Georgia, and we’d have to agree.
PRO TIP: In the summer, sunset pictures are a must. Grab your camera around 8:30 p.m. and snap away! 🔥
POUND HALL
North Campus = slept on. Unless you have classes on North Campus, rarely will you find yourself in this area of campus, and boy is that a shame. While all the buildings on North Campus are picturesque, the steps and beautiful columns of Pound are aesthetics we wish we could see 24/7.
PRO TIP: Shots taken close to the stairs are always nice, but we also love capturing shots of Pound from a distance so the entire building is captured. 📸
HOPPER PERGOLA
Take a study break or dance the night away under this beautiful pergola. The luscious green ivy that covers the pergola drapes over the white columns, and the views make for a great photo op. Do your followers a favor, and share this hidden gem with them.
PRO TIP: If you’re planning to take your next Insta at the pergola, consider wearing a pop of color! Many colors will look great against the green background, but you know red is always our go-to option. 🌿
ODUM LIBRARY
That’s right, Club Odum makes the list. This location offers much more than books and your latest study session. It offers a mixture of old and new design within its walls and areas you’ve probably never discovered before. Next time you need a study break – get up, stretch your legs, and explore. You’ll be surprised at what you’ll be able to capture in the Club.
PRO TIP: Stack pics are always 💯, but shots taken in front of the large wood wall always give us major vintage vibes (and we’re here for it). 📚
WHITEHEAD CAMELLIA TRAIL
Although this is a seasonal option, it’s a must-see. Some species bloom as early as September and as late as April, but peak season for Camellias generally dates from late winter to the beginning of spring. And when these “winter roses” are in full bloom, they are heavenly. The aroma, the views, and the history behind #VState’s trail are just a few of the reasons why this location has a designated spot on our list. Learn more about the Whitehead Camellia Trail today!
PRO TIP: The best times of the year to snap your pictures on the trail will be between December and March. 🌸
