Valdosta State University’s (VSU) Master’s of Science in Nursing degree prepares nurses for flexible leadership and critical thinking within complex and changing systems, including healthcare, education, and organizational systems. This advanced education provides our graduate nurses with knowledge and skills to implement change, promote health, and elevate care in diverse roles and settings.
Master’s prepared nurses have recognizable value for present and emerging roles in healthcare delivery and education within advanced nursing practice and higher level leadership. Nurses at this graduate level build on competencies learned in a baccalaureate nursing program by acquiring a deeper understanding of nursing needed to fully analyze, design, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
VSU master’s prepared nurses are well positioned to provide care to diverse populations of patients in both clinical and community-based systems. VSU School of Nursing has approved Master’s curricula to prepare graduates for success on a variety of Advanced Practice examinations leading to the Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL), Adult- Geronotological Nurse Practitioner (AGNP), Family Nurse Practitioner or {and} Family-Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (FPMHNP).
