Brian Haugabrook, Director of Data Warehouse recently spoke with the VSU newspaper, The Spectator about the new student portal. Here is a portion of his interview on how the university is continuing to provide students with the latest in technology that supports and enhances students’ university experience.
VSU is one of the leading institutions in the Complete College Georgia initiative of graduating more students. We are using new technology and analytics to help improve access to information, enhance academic support services, and anywhere access from your mobile device. the student portal is one of many changes the university will make to ensure students are successful and achieve academic success.
The student portal is the first phase of an initiative to provide a one-stop-shop application for students. With so many technologies we are always logging into different systems (Banner, Blazeview/D2L, Active Directory, DegreeWorks, etc…). The portal will bring the needed information to a central system so students are able to easily get the information they need and we can increase communication between students, faculty, advisors, and student success/support professionals. The primary goal of this portal is to provide an environment that give students the information, tools, resources, and contacts to be successful.
