Holiday Break and Systems Maintenance Dates

by Jeffrey Gallant on December 10, 2012 in Odum Library

Odum Library will close at 5:30 pm Tuesday, December 18 and reopen at 8 am Thursday, January 3, 2013 in observation of Holiday Break.

Along with the Holiday Break, there are a couple of other announcements regarding closure and downtime over Break:

Library GIL Catalog Unavailable During Scheduled Upgrade

The Library’s GIL Catalog Voyager system is scheduled to be upgraded in the evening on Monday, December 17th. During the upgrade, the Library’s GIL-FIND@VSU and Classic GIL@VSU Odum Catalog interfaces will be unavailable for several hours starting in the evening with service restored sometime later in the morning on Tuesday, December 18th.

Odum Library’s staff appreciates your understanding and patience during this necessary library system maintenance and upgrade!

Library ILL/Odum & GIL Express Service Interrupted for Break

Our statewide GIL Express Service is unavailable from Dec. 12, 2012 through Jan. 1, 2013.

InterLibrary Loan books received while the library is open between Dec. 7-18, 2012 or January 3-7, 2013 will be delivered to the patron’s departmental office or can be picked up at the Circulation Desk, depending on the patron’s expressed wishes upon contact.

While ILL/Odum requests may be submitted after the library closes on Dec. 19th, please remember the requests will not be processed until the Library reopens on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 and InterLibrary Loan staff return to work. Odum Express Delivery Service to faculty departmental offices is suspended from Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, and will resume on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013. Libraries around the state and the nation are already starting to shut down ILL operations, so if there is something you wish to obtain before Odum library closes, it is advisable to submit your requests as soon as possible.
