Every hack is aware of the truism that mediocrity borrows and genius steals, mostly because that’s a hacky thing to say when you get caught with your hand in the cookie jar. But, there is another, slightly less hacky truism, which is, roughly, that we stand on the shoulders of those who came before us. Granted, something is only as hacky as the spirit behind it.
