Why ‘Good Editing Is Like Good Sex’
At Berlinale 2018, Susan Korda discussed secrets from the editing room.
“I don’t think we need to suffer in the editing room, but it’s truly where the chicken comes home to roost,” said Susan Korda, editor, producer, director, story consultant, and professor at Columbia University. In a workshop for editors at Berlinale this year, Korda shared some hard-won insights from her career as well as golden rules from Walter Murch (the rule of six) and William Faulker (“kill your darlings”). Breaking down scenes from Bonnie and Clyde and Jaws, Korda recreates the initial “Oh, shit!” experience in the editing room in order to reveal how courageous editing and the ability to surrender preconceived preferences can create a cinematic discovery from what initially appears to be a failure. After all, “God gave us digital to make the edit,” said Korda.
Below, we have highlighted some of Korda’s most salient editing tips.

Keep an Eye on All of Your Multi-Camera Settings With the New LiveGrade Pro
Pomfort has upgraded its industry standard software with new features to make it easier for DITs and DPs to monitor all of the cameras in a multi-camera workflow.
One of the first lessons you learn when doing any kind of multi-camera shoot is to match the cameras as closely as possible on set. Start by getting identical cameras, if possible, and matching lenses, and then before the shoot go through all the menus and make sure that they all match, making all the “metadata” settings identical (ISO, color balance, sometimes contrast, etc.).

Let’s celebrate the International Women’s Day
Let’s celebrate the International Women’s Day
Today is a celebration day! Because of the World Clock, some of you might be welcoming a new day as of now but we are still celebrating here! What are we celebrating? Well it’s the International Women’s Day! For those who don’t know, it’s a World gathering celebrating social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. We all know at least that one special woman who is strong, perseverant and at the same time being able to juggle the ups and downs of life whatever it is towards their careers or life choices. I think it’s an important day to recognize that force and especially if we take a closer look at our design and tech industry. We decided to celebrate in our own way and put together a collection for this beautiful day. Please enjoy and thank you for doing what you are doing.
In this collection we are featuring the work from Anna Rising, Studio–JQ, Jessica Strelioff, Carly Stevens and more.

Travel Photography: Cinematic Amsterdam
Travel Photography: Cinematic Amsterdam
Well it looks like we will be heading our way to Amsterdam for another event coverage, it’s quite exciting, to be honest! As a tradition now, I would search on Behance for either references and basically visiting the city somehow from a photographer’s perspective. For Amsterdam, I really like the style that Amsterdam-based cinematographer and photographer Stijn Hoekstra did with his Cinematic Amsterdam series. Entitled to the theme related to movies, we would happily explore this beautiful canal city through its architectural perspective. Enjoy!
