VSU: When was your chapter founded and chartered on the Valdosta State University campus?
JW: The Kappa Delta Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. was chartered on March 31, 1979 on the Valdosta State University campus.
VSU: What is your chapter’s philanthropy or mission?
JW: The mission of our chapter is to improve the Valdosta community and the campus life at Valdosta State University through our community service, fundraising, and campus events. We also strive to work alongside other organizations to bring awareness to issues that many people are faced with as well as find ways to prevent these issues.
VSU: Tell us about your chapter.
JW: Our chapter continues to strive to make the campus more enjoyable and inclusive for all students. We as a chapter embody our fraternal ideals of inclusive, we, rather than exclusive we.
VSU: What made you personally want to join this chapter?
JW: I wanted to join my chapter because I noticed all the service that the members were doing for their community. Also, the members always conducted themselves well and were very involved in campus life.
VSU: Is there anything about your chapter that you are especially proud of?
JW: I’m especially proud that our chapter has been able to bring in new members that continuously strive to be better individuals in all aspects of life including academically, socially, financially, and mentally.
