Thanks to the eLearning meeting today at the IDEA Center, ideas for getting a viable online tutoring program up and running were plentiful. Although I have been pursuing this myself, I have not had success on my own, and I relish the chance to work with the eLearning talent pool–and faculty in Modern and Classical Languages– to re-imagine how and whom we recruit, how to offer quality training, and how to use the technology resources we already have to help both students here on campus as well as distance learning students.
I have at least five tutors who currently would like to work in online environments, so we already have a pool to work with. Faculty mentoring, too, would be ideal, so anyone interested in working on the project should feel free to chime in.
