The Department of Music recently moved into the newly renovated and restored Powell Hall, which was the original campus library dedicated by Eleanor Roosevelt in 1941.
The reading room is now a large recital hall with seating for up to 200 audience members, audio and video recording, and large, exposed beams and original windows that give the space a lot of daytime light. The building features new student gathering spaces, practice rooms, rehearsal rooms for medium chamber ensembles, a conference room, a jazz ensemble room, a music education room.
