Catherine Yara (MMP Violin Performance, 2021) has been awarded Graduate Assistant of the Year by the university and Outstanding Graduate Service by the faculty of the Department of Music.

While at VSU, Catherine has participated in String Ensemble, Valdosta Symphony Orchestra, and VSU Opera. Catherine is from Ibague, Colombia.
