Corey Hopson (BA 2018, MAT 2019) has accepted a teaching position at Elbert County Middle School in Elberton, GA. Corey was a member of the first graduating Master of Arts in Teaching class in music. Most recently, he served as the band director at Coffee County High School in Douglas, GA.

The Valdosta State University Trumpet Ensemble was named a national semifinalist for the 2021 National Trumpet Competition in the Trumpet Ensemble Division. Thirty ensembles from around the country advanced to the semifinal round. The VSU Trumpet Ensemble performed The Barber of Seville Overture by Italian composer Gioachino Rossini.

Kellen Gray (VSU MMP ’16) has been named the Assistant Conductor of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. While at VSU, Kellen served as Associate Conductor with the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra. Most recently, he served as Assistant Conductor of the Charleston Symphony (SC).
