These 6 Techniques Will Help You Shoot Better Drone Footage
Is your drone footage lacking that cinematic feel? These tips will help you out.
Drones have opened up aerial cinematography to indie filmmakers in a big way. We’re able to capture more dynamic shots from perspectives that were only possible with a helicopter and load of cash to rent one, but ability doesn’t equal quality—a lot of work and precision goes into shooting beautiful, cinematic footage with a drone. In this video, Teppo Haapoja goes over six tips that will help you take your aerial cinematography to the next level. Check it out below:
Shooting good drone footage requires creativity, dexterity, and technical know-how. Haapoja’s tips focus more on the technical side, like camera and image settings, as well as basic camera operation techniques.

‘Your Job as Director is to Download Your Brain’: Michael Gallagher on Slamdance Comedy ‘Funny Story’
From Youtuber to feature director, Michael Gallagher’s love of making movies catapulted him into a rags-to-riches film career.
Back in 2009, Michael Gallagher became one of the OG YouTube partners in the early era of monetization, eventually co-founding Maker Studios, which sold to Disney to the tune of over half a million dollars. “You didn’t have to have a desk job, you didn’t have to be a PA. You didn’t have to work your way up the ladder. I thought [Youtube] was an incredible platform, where you can create your own destiny,” said Gallagher to No Film School.
And that’s exactly what Gallagher did. He quit college and his job in San Diego, moved to Los Angeles, and started stockpiling videos. He sent out casting notices, recruited sketch comedians, and one-man-banded himself into the Youtube channel Totally Sketch, which brought in millions of views right out of the gate. Now, his latest feature film, Funny Story, a tragicomedy about a has-been TV actor heading up the California coast to see his estranged daughter, premiered at Slamdance last week.

Get to Know: 9 Mexican Artists Performing at SXSW 2018
Creatives, industry pros, and fans travel to Austin each year for the SXSW Music Festival to see performances from iconic and emerging talent. With 2000+ Showcasing Artists, many of which are international and regional artists, it’s impossible not to find something new to be excited about in our festival lineup if you are on the lookout. To help facilitate music discovery, we are highlighting a selection of Mexican artists performing at SXSW 2018.
Mexican Artists Spotlight
Yoga Fire is a leader in Mexican underground hip-hop, and is redefining the trap scene in 2018. Mexico City is an iconic hub for music and the performing arts, and home to Sputnik, the next up-and-coming Punk group you need to check out. We agree with Noisey that MINT FIELD’s blend of vocals layered over organic and spacious instrumentals create “brutally touching results.” Following a strong 2017, Ramona (pictured) continues to be a key band in the indie scene by creating their own pop ballads from their Rock, Folk, and Alternative influences. Hailing from a poor neighborhood in Guadalajara, rapper C-Kan has overcome adversity and achieved international stardom with over 50 music videos, many boasting millions of views.
A young innovator in Mexican rap music, Aleman has become a hometown favorite after his 2016 single Rolemos Otro made it onto Alternative Mexico City radio station Reactor 105.7. The Indie duo Coma Pony (pictured) is bringing their scenic electronic pop beats for their sophomore SXSW performance. Nominees at the Latin Grammys in 2015, Centavrvs received praise for their unique mixture of electronic and regional music of Mexico. With over 350 shows in Mexico since 2014, Lng/SHT (Longshot) is an MC with lyrics that touch on middle-class lifestyle, love stories, social issues, and a mass of popular culture references, making him one of the most versatile rappers on the scene.

Eerie Illustration and 3D work by Carlos Neda
Eerie Illustration and 3D work by Carlos Neda
Carlos Neda shared a beautiful post on his Behance profile featuring some super cool illustratins. They were created in Autodesk Maya, Luxology Modo, Pixologic Zbrush and Marvelous Designer. All of them have this super eerie feel with colorful light effects. The project is shared Nothing Matters and as the name suggest, it does look like nothing matters for me after seeing that and realizing that I lack at a lot of skills 🙂
The contemplation of your fears points with an intense light directly towards you your environment is empty, what are your reflections at the end of the day? accept that you still fail or accept you’re already part of the same fears and emptiness?

Motion Design & Illustration: A Dream Within a Dream
Motion Design & Illustration: A Dream Within a Dream
I have recently watched Blade Runner 2049 and woah! It was such an incredible film to watch. Every single frame pays an homage to the original somehow and it’s quite beautiful. Going into the same lines, we are taking a look at the collaboration work between designers 灰 昼 and 行行珂 Hunk Xing and their motion series: A Dream Within a Dream. I would say this is the perfect tribute to the Blade Runner World added with their own Neo-Noir approach. Give it a look!
_This short film Dream in A Dream is in reality, an experimental film about dreams. It is like a symbol floating on the water, being tightly held in an infant’s arms or trapped in the palm of the Buddha; it bursts into a blaze, then projects into the building of a capsule apartment.
