The two – hour show was held in the Student Union Theatre, and winners earned gift certificates to Best Buy for the Audience Favorite category, as voted by the attendees.  The program included ads, PSA’s, promotional, short films, mini-documentaries, children’s educational, and news pieces.   It was attended by almost one hundred people.

A horror film, “Blood and Iron,” by Saige Ashe, John Brown, Taren Pineset, and Max Steele, won First Place.  The story involved a pair of young women travelers who are trapped inside a locked building with a mysterious cult leader and her followers.  It was directed by Taren Pineset and Max Steele, written by Max Steele, and starred Kayley Tudor and Alez Robinson.

Second Place went to “The Girlfriend Show,” a comedy talk show parody of a “Saturday Night Live” sketch. It described the predicament of a young man preparing his new girlfriend to meet his strange family for the holidays.  The piece was created by Emma Golden, Jakob Parris, Orianna Merritt, Ryan Bryant, Kennedi Mitchell, and Zachary Frasu.  It starred Ryan Bryant and Orianna Merritt as the couple.

Third Place went to “In Sickness and In Health,” a drama about a young woman dealing with cancer, and the dilemma of how to tell her boyfriend. The makers were Saige Ashe, John Brown, Mikayla Mummaw, and Kayley Tudor.  It was directed by Saige Ashe, and starred Vanessa Benitez and Levi Johnson.

FVS Faculty Advisor Dennis Conway and President Peter Falkenhausen hosted the event. FVS Officers James Hourigan, Cameron Tudor, Matt Snow, Nathan Ragland, and Amanda Reeves served as Production Crew, along with Amy Cash.

The FVS will hold its Spring 2019 Showcase in May, as well as other events in the Spring. The group meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month in the Mass Media Building, to encourage student video production, and discuss film industry issues.   It will also support the South Georgia Film Festival, to be held in Spring of 2019.
