Don’t know how to get started in the Healthy Holiday Challenge? You’re in luck, Blazers because this Wellness Blog has some key secrets on how to begin!

Holiday Treats

The best part about the holidays is the festive cheer and what better way to make everyone joyous? Holiday food, which consists of desserts and candy. While these are always great dishes to pile up on during this time, they aren’t always the healthiest options. Consider substituting one or two dishes for something more nutritious.

Here a few healthier holiday treat substitutes that are just as tasty.

  1. Coconut-dusted Energy Balls

These protein and fiber packed balls include oats, nut butter, dried fruits, flax seeds, and chocolate chips. These coconut coated balls go perfect with the holiday theme of winter snow.

  1. Dark- Chocolate Strawberries

Dark chocolate definitely wins at being a healthy favorite with its rich source of antioxidants and minerals. Coat strawberries, a great source of vitamin C with the dark chocolate for a quick and easy treat.

  1. Choco-nut Popcorn

Make your favorite bowl of popcorn and add a tablespoon of melted peanut butter and cocoa powder. If you favor chocolate more, try adding a chocolate-hazelnut spread instead.

Winter Workouts

Staying active during the winter can become difficult due to the harsh weather and not wanting to leave your toasty home. You don’t have to go to the gym or participate in intense snow workouts to stay active. A simple jog around the park or indoor workouts are just as efficient.

Here are a few simple ways to stay active while enjoying your holidays.

  1. Dance off.

Burn a few calories while you get your groove on. Whether you’re performing a concert in your room, dancing with friends, or playing games, dancing is a perfect way to stay active while enjoying yourself.

  1. Morning stretches.

Before helping to cook, clean, or decorate, start off your day with some calm and cool yoga. Yoga helps you maintain a balanced metabolism and improve your breathing.

  1. Hop to it.

Enjoy your holiday classic movies while you jump some rope in the comfort of your home. Simple cardio can keep your heart strong while helping you burn calories.
