Your Security Comes First

Learn how to setup and use 2FA

Information Technology is committed to providing services that allow VSU Blazers to work and learn in a secure online environment. We do that by implementing several security measures.

One advanced method used is known as Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). 2FA is used to protect your identity and safeguard sensitive academic and financial information in the event that your password credentials are compromised when you attempt to log in to your MyVSU account.

With 2FA, you verify your identity by (1) knowing something and (2) possessing something.

An example of 2FA in action is when you attempt to login to your account, a notification is sent to your cell phone (possession) that includes a special access code (knowledge) that must be confirmed before you are able to successfully log in. With this method, even if someone else knows your password, s/he cannot gain access without knowing the code or being in possession of your device.

In the face of an ever-changing online risk environment, we all must do our part to defend against malicious attempts.
