Women’s History Month

Valdosta State University Information Technology wants to thank all of our female IT workers and celebrate the accomplishments of all women. The VSU IT Communication and Support Department has created a ‘Then and Now’ presentation that highlights the achievements of influential women in STEM and some of our female IT staff.

Job Summary: Interns will assist in facilitating development of information security requirements, policies, and procedures. They will also participate in daily security operations, such as maintenance of our campus firewall and antivirus, while also promoting a safe and secure information technology environment. Finally, depending on their level of prior skill, they may participate in incident response and forensic investigation.

Shifts range from 8AM – 5:30 PM Monday through Thursday and 8AM to 3PM on Friday.


  • Must be a current Valdosta State University student enrolled for six or more credit hours and maintaining at least a 2.0 cumulative grade-point average
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and work in a team environment
  • Strong initiative and work ethics
  • Basic knowledge of Linux operating systems and the command line interface
  • Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems
  • Knowledge of computer networking concepts in OSI model layers 1-4
  • Basic knowledge of virtual machines
  • Preference for candidates with CompTIA Network, CompTIA Security, and/or Cisco CCENT/CCNA certifications

Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 10:00 p.m., Banner Managed Services institutions will be upgraded to v7.10.0 by Information Technology Services (ITS) to mirror the latest version within TouchNet. Banner 8 Self Service Banner and Banner Connect may not be available until upgrade is complete, typically 30-45 minutes. Banner Admin will not be impacted.

Job Summary

Provides management and administration of computer systems.


Manage and support endpoint protection servers and endpoint management software Manage services that provide anti- virus protection for endpoints. Manage and support client/server workgroup servers for supporting of various department workloads (Windows Server 2012 – 2019, Windows 7-10, Mac OSX) Support application services that provide and maintain systems for call center/helpdesk. Support remote access services for virtual, lab, and office desktops Assist with OS image design for both physical and virtual desktops, software automation and packaging. (PowerShell and Batch scripting) Assist with the monitoring of systems and services for the identity and endpoint infrastructure. Assist the Identity and Endpoint Systems Manager in coordinating and reporting of endpoint solutions with Technical Support Services, Inventory Control, and Information Security. Assist with documentation, knowledge sharing, and training with endpoint management systems. Assist with project planning on various Information Technology projects. Produce reports to assist with both audits and capacity planning for endpoint systems.


  • Associate’s degree
  • Three (3) years of related work experience (Experience can be substituted for education).
